“I am a world-traveller and have met many different people, immersed myself in many different cultures, studied different beliefs and tried on many different perspectives of life.
This is what I have discovered: All people respond well and show their best selves when they feel valued, cared for and loved. And all situations and conflicts are best resolved when the other party feels valued, cared for and loved.
This does not mean compromising yourself or moving your own personal boundaries, it just means treating others the way you would like to be treated: With respect, consideration and love.
And so, with this in mind, my goal in life is to somehow redefine the culture we have created where we are constantly putting each other down, are fully self-focused, and pessimistic – and re-create one that is positive, affirming, encouraging and community-focused (without compromising the unique value of the individual).
I believe this is possible.
The popular global belief is that the world is a terrible, harsh place and that it will never change.
Well, I beg to differ. I find two faults with that statement:
1) The world is always changing and evolving – and it will never stop. The question is, how will we let it change and evolve? Let’s not forget that WE are the ones changing it and helping it to evolve.
2) If the world is such a terrible and harsh place, why are the majority of people good people? I have met very few people who have had destructive agendas in their lives – and even they, with a little love and healing, were capable of change. We have the power to change the world, but in order to do that we need to see a shift away from our focus on hatred, fear and punishment.
“Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent than the one derived from fear of punishment.” Mahatma Gandhi
I hope you enjoy reading my posts. Most of them are pretty light-hearted, but I trust that you are able to recognize the theme of love in all of them. Because essentially, that is what I am all about and what I believe in most: Love.
So, my aspiration is to somehow inspire you to go out and pursue love in every aspect of your life today.
“Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive, because your words become your behaviours. Keep your behaviours positive, because your behaviours become your habits. Keep your habits positive, because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive, because your values become your destiny.” Gandhi
